Sophie Mei is a performer, dancer, journalist and an award-winning entrepreneur. Born and bred in Yorkshire, Sophie who is mixed-race English and Chinese, has always had a love of culture, arts, sport and literature.

She has studied extensively at school and university, specializing in languages, philosophy and social sciences. She achieved 13 GCSE's, 5 A-Levels and a degree in Philosophy, Social Sciences and Italian.

Sophie has combined her studies and entrepreneurialism with her ongoing versatile involvement in the media through performing, teaching and writing. She has also immersed herself in a variety of activities ranging from drama and sports, to dance and setting up her own social enterprise – MEI International. MEI is the company behind social enterprise media services (SEMS) and Sophie Mei Schools, which provides workshops in dance and drama as well as cultural events.
