Budding broadcaster Sophie has acquired a variety of skills in writing, reporting, editing and presenting. She works as a freelance journalist for local press, radio stations, as well as running her own magazine and, supplying online content.
Sophie regularly writes for Regional newspapers and magazines. She has completed work placements at
Manchester Evening News,
The Star and Exposed magazine.
Sophie was awarded top marks in her English Language and Literature A-level which, inspired her to begin writing plays and prose for amateur dramatic groups as well as writing reviews for independent magazines. She has won a SKY Young reviewer competition and received critical acclaim for her work.
She uses online media as the main platform to showcase her writing talent through blog posts, E-magazines and website content.
Sophie's first experience of television was back in 2008 when she performed live in front of ten million viewers in the finals of Britain's Got Talent. Sophie quickly became fascinated by the power of the media and her love of broadcasting blossomed, as she became a firm favourite to be interviewed on GMTV, This Morning and Regional television.
She continued to complete a work placement at ITV Yorkshire where she developed her editing, research and presenting skills. Subsequently, she landed her own documentary on 'Bellydancing in Egypt'. She traveled with an ITV production team to Cairo to present and produce a short documentary.
Since her documentary, Sophie has danced, spoken and presented on numerous packages for local and regional television. Sophie has also worked as an extra and special guest on various soaps such as Channel 4's Hollyoaks.
She combines her bubbly personality with a love for well-researched topical stories as she believes, "substance needn't come without style."

Sophie discovered her love for radio and broadcast journalism after performing in a radio adapted version of Blue Remembered Hills. She began gaining behind-the-scenes experience and completed an 8-week course at Real Radio where, Tony Blackburn gave her an award.
Sophie now freelances at BBC Local Radio stations as a Broadcast assistant.
Sophie continues to develop her editing, production and on air skills through shifts and placements at radio stations. Sophie ran a summer activity series called; 'Mei's Mission' which involved weekly outside broadcasts in a 'Challenge Anneka' style. Alongside her own packages, Sophie enjoys researching, reporting and assisting on a variety of programs.
